Hive Mind Event App
Project Overview
Hivemind Event App
Project Goal: To design an app that will allow its users to see local music festivals purchase tickets for them and see other details about music festivals.
Timeline: 1 week
Team: Product manager: Natalie Ndubuisi UI designer: Natalie Ndubuisi UX designer: Natalie Ndubuis User researcher: Natalie Ndubuisi
Problem Statement
The current landscape of music festival discovery and ticket purchasing is often fragmented and inefficient. Users face challenges in finding relevant events, understanding event details, and completing the purchasing process. The goal of this project is to create a user-friendly and intuitive platform that simplifies the music festival experience, allowing users to easily discover local events, purchase tickets, and access comprehensive information about festivals.
User Research
Methods: User interviews, user personas, and comparative analysis were conducted to understand user pain points and behavior patterns.
Key Findings: insights might include:
Difficulty navigating and finding events
Lack of user engagement features (e.g., event recommendations, social sharing).
Confusing or cluttered user interface
Confusion in off-app ticket purchasing
Mood Board
To establish a cohesive visual direction, I curated a mood board inspired by popular design trends and the unique atmosphere of music festivals. The chosen color palette, featuring shades of blue, purple, white, and dark gray, evokes the vibrant energy and captivating lights often associated with such events. For the typography, I selected Inter as the body font, ensuring optimal readability across various devices. To add a touch of visual interest and reflect the festival's dynamic nature, I chose Kdam Thmor for the headers. This stylized font, while maintaining legibility, complements the overall aesthetic and creates a sense of excitement.
Low Fidelity
To refine the app's visual direction, I conducted further research on popular design platforms like Pinterest and Dribbble. This exploration led me to discover inspiring UI elements that aligned with the project's overall aesthetic. While designing the low-fidelity wireframes, I focused on creating a sleek and intuitive interface with rounded corners and edges to enhance visual appeal and user comfort.
Prioritizing simplicity and ease of use, I conducted informal user testing with family and friends to gather insights into their festival-going experiences. Their feedback highlighted the need for a centralized platform to discover local events, purchase tickets, and access relevant information. In response, I incorporated a home page featuring a scrollable feed of upcoming festivals and a map view for easy visualization. These enhancements aimed to streamline the user experience and provide a comprehensive solution for festival enthusiasts.
Design Solutions
Personalized Recommendations: Recommend events based on user behavior and past attendance.
Social Features: Allow users to see what friends are attending or interested in attending the event.
Simplified Interface: Streamline the user interface for intuitive navigation and better information hierarchy.
Event Details: Provide comprehensive event information, including descriptions, schedules, and attendee reviews.
Hive Mind UI
While refining the high-fidelity design, I explored various logo concepts that would capture the essence of the app. Inspired by the buzzing energy and communal spirit of EDM festivals, I chose a honeycomb design to represent the Hivemind concept. This visually appealing and meaningful logo served as a central element of the app's identity.
As I integrated colors and fonts into the wireframes, I generated additional ideas for potential features. Although time constraints prevented their immediate implementation, these concepts, such as on-site parking and food ordering, could be valuable additions in future updates.
Furthermore, I recognized the importance of a well-designed user interface that is both visually appealing and functional. The chosen color palette and typography effectively conveyed the app's vibe while ensuring readability and accessibility. This project reinforced the value of deliberate design choices and the importance of seeking feedback from peers to continually improve my work. By stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring new design approaches, I am confident in my ability to push the boundaries of my design capabilities and create exceptional user experiences.
