Crunchy Roll Redesign
Crunchyroll Smart TV App Redesign
Project Overview
This UI/UX case study focuses on redesigning the Crunchyroll streaming application specifically tailored for a Smart TV experience (such as a Samsung TV). The project aims to modernize the platform's visual interface and optimize the user experience for large screens, balancing a clean aesthetic with the vibrant energy of anime culture.
Key Features & High-Fidelity Screens Designed:
Profile Selection Screen: A clean, welcoming onboarding screen for multi-user accounts that establishes a seamless entry point into the app.
Content Discovery & Home Navigation: An intuitive layout optimized for TV remote navigation, featuring prominent content carousels, personalized recommendations, and high-impact imagery that allows users to browse titles effortlessly.
"My Roll" Personalized Hub: A dedicated space for users to easily track their watchlist, view watch history, and resume where they left off.
Show Detail & Episode Interface: A revamped show landing page (demonstrated via Sailor Moon) that cleanly surfaces metadata, episode lists, and user engagement options without cluttering the screen.
Core UI/UX Objectives:
Enhanced TV Usability: Streamlining the interface for native television environments to improve accessibility, layout hierarchy, and remote control navigation.
Modern Aesthetic: Elevating Crunchyroll's brand identity with polished typography, better use of negative space, and dynamic visual layouts while retaining its iconic community feel.
